Kine-P246
This semester, I enrolled in KINE-P246 not knowing what to expect. From the name, I knew the class was going to be exercise based, and I was excited for that. I was not aware that we would have to do presentations leading the class, and I was thrown off because I tend to get nervous around crowds. This class helped me to step out of my comfort zone. I embraced discomfort in this class, and it really helped me to grow and mature as a person.
My Experience
This class truly taught me a lot about myself. I learned that even though I seem like a "keep to myself" kind of person, I can lead a group without having a lot of issues. It was also interesting to see how everyone had different methods of teaching. Some were pretty serious while others liked to let loose and have fun. I am really grateful that this was the group of people who I took this class with. Everyone's different personalities somehow meshed together and every class was a lot of fun. I was able to grow as a person during my time in this class. I was not as quite and reserved as I thought I would be. My main goal was to just have fun with it while also learning.
Leading Exercises
When I had to do my first presentation, I was extremely nervous and was doubting myself. I had never lead a group exercise class before, and I could not imagine trying to lead over twenty students. I knew that it was not my best, and over time I was able to figure out what I needed to improve and what I was good at. The one thing that I still need to work on is going into detail about the exercises. This includes where you should feel it versus what should not be in pain. I also need to work on better timing, I did find it difficult trying to manage time while leading people through multiple stations. By the end of the semester, I was extremely comfortable in this class. I am grateful to be friends with a lot of the other students in there. It truly does make it easier when getting up in front of a group.
