Majors/Minors
and Certifications

I am currently pursuing a degree in Applied Fitness & Sports Performance at Indiana University Indianapolis along with a Certificate in Personal Training. Since starting this program, I have gained a deeper understanding of how exercise can be used not just for performance, but for improving overall health and quality of life.

Through coursework in exercise science, psychology, and exercise leadership, along with hands-on experience in the INShape program, I have developed skills in exercise programming, adapting training to meet individual needs, and client communication. Working one-on-one with client has helped me better understand how to apply what I have learned in a real-world setting. These experiences have strengthened my interest to work in a clinical setting.

I am especially interested in clinical exercise physiology and using exercise to support individuals with chronic conditions or health-related limitations. Moving forward, I plan to continue gaining hands-on experience and building my practical training skills and client knowledge to prepare for a career in a medically-based fitness setting.

Why Did I Choose Kinesiology?

I grew up playing multiple sports, but basketball was always the biggest part of my life. During my sophomore year, I suffered a serious arm surgery that required surgery and extensive physical therapy. That experienced completely changed how I viewed the body and recovery.

Going through rehab and spending time in a physical therapy setting sparked my interest in how the body heals and adapts. It make me realize I wanted to learn more about the science behind injury, movement, and recovery.

That experience is what led me to pursue kinesiology. Since then, my interest has continued to grow, especially toward clinical exercise physiology and using exercise to improve quality of life and overall health.

I plan to pursue a career as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, where I can use exercise as a tool to improve health and quality of life. I am especially interested in working with individuals who have chronic conditions or are recovering from injury, helping them safely build endurance, strength, and confidence.

Through my coursework and hands-on experience in the INShape program and Motor Activity Clinic, I have developed skills in client communication, exercise programming, and adapting workouts to meet individual needs. These experiences have confirmed my interest in working in a clinical setting.

My goal is to continue gaining experience in medically-based fitness environments and further develop my knowledge so I can effectively support patients through movement and exercise.
